[daily face] ruddy: a drugstore look

So I’m absolutely in love with all of the ruddy eyeshadows coming out recently: brick reds, warm corals, shimmery red-copper, bright pinks, muted burgundy. I know that the red-orange-ruddy-pink area can be dangerous — it can get you that “goth” / “I am dead” / “I was up way too late” look really easily — but I also think it can look absolutely fabulous and dramatic, bringing out eyes of any color, if worn well.

I wanted to try a week full of “ruddy looks”, where I went through different ways to wear these new red-toned shadows. However, the week got away from me – most do – and so far I’ve only got two looks on my phone. However, I’ll pick it up again this week and show off some of my favorites.

The first look I did was using drugstore products — I wanted to show that these looks can be done with inexpensive products too as long as you apply carefully. :) This look is the antithesis of spring – it’s got autumn written all over it with gold and shimmery brown and warm red – but I hate categorizing colors you “can” and “can’t” wear based on the season. In my opinion a fiery look like this warms up the cold winter weather!

The look:
– deep shimmery coffee-brown all over the lid
– shimmery red brushed into the crease and blended well
– bright gold along the lower lash line
